Biological clocks are critical for the health and survival of most organisms on Earth. We humans are most familiar with the circadian clock, which optimizes our physiology and behavior with the time-of-day. In the sea, circatidal clocks are equally important, given the enormous impact of tides on marine life. However, their mechanisms are poorly understood. Our lab recently introduced the crustacean P. hawaiensis as a powerful model organism to understand how circatidal rhythms are generated. We will discuss our most recent discoveries on the molecular mechanisms of the circatid
